Icon of the Seas project and the new Allstars Design

Allstars Engineering Group played an important role in the development of the Icon of the Seas project, both in design phase and turnkey delivery of glass products.
Our scope of design included various services provided to the shipyard and the turnkey companies and, more specifically, the scope of work was executed by four of the Allstars departments: Hull, electric, HVAC/piping, and interior department.

Allstars involvement in Icon of the Seas can be quantified in approximately 312.000 hours of design for about 90.000 sqm divided on twenty decks.

Firstly, Allstars was involved in the basic design of hull, machinery, and interior. Our hull design team did 3D-modelling for roughly half of whole vessel while machinery and interior team was designing general arrangements and arrangements for outer decks, elevators, and escalators.
Secondarily, Allstars delivered hull, background, visual and electric detail design entities. Hull detail design can be quantified in 18.500 tons, that is 40% of the total steel weight of the vessel. When it comes to hotel areas, Allstars designed a total of 50.000 sqm of passenger cabin areas and 2.700 sqm of passenger suite areas. In addition, we also designed 8.500 sqm of public areas and more specifically the Music Hall / Playmakers, the Aquadome and The Central Park.
Regarding technical areas, our scope included 10.500 sqm of crew staircases and 1.500 sqm of other technical spaces. On top of this, Allstars provided detail design of exactly 14.700 sqm of Sun Decks and other outer decks.

Allstars Project oversaw the turnkey delivery of glass products and this scope included 1200 sqm of different kind of glazing in various areas. Starting from the outer decks, Allstars Project provided stairs with glass railings, the shower cubicles, 850 sqm of windscreens and wind stoppers, and a 50 sqm A-0 fire rated glass with non-visible fixation.
The challenge Allstars wants to highlight is the design, delivery, and installation of the 270 sqm glass wall module of the Pearl Café: the item measures 30x9m for a total weight of 30 tons and has been installed onboard in one piece.

Allstars is continuing work with Icon class vessels by providing design services for Star of the Seas and ICON 3 – still unnamed.

Allstars Design is the new concept design department recently build inside the Group, and we are currently working on sustainable interior design proposals for cruise ships and yachts.

The rendering shows one of the ongoing projects that is the development of layout and architecture of balcony cabins for major vessels, looking to achieve an appealing sense of comfort with simple elements and pastel colours. The concept is about giving the passenger the nicest interior experience possible but contemporarily inviting them out to explore the wonders of the public areas of the vessel and giving the shipowner flexibility with easy-to-maintain and easy-to-reconvert pieces of furniture during the lifetime of the vessel.
